PUT IT ON REPEAT (PART ONE)

It feels like forever since the last time I posted here. I miss you all and I miss writing, too. But you know God sometimes draw us back so He can shoot us farther than our biggest imaginations.

I’d like to share a very incredible truth about how to live constantly in the arena of victory as believers. It’s in our ability to stay consistent with God’s prescription for our lives. It’s about not having a second option or an excuse not to. This is about what God calls your you-can’t-do-without playlist. Please read along.

Some things are best put on repeat. Like your new favorite song. In fact, most of us enjoy having a super cool playlist and I’m going to describe a day in the life of a Christian and her playlist. Christian? Why? Because I’m a Christian 😄.

The lyrics of a song by Elevation Worship slams the truth hard on the feelings of helplessness and tiredness looming over you. The words remind you that you’re accepted, helped and loved. You’ve been struggling to do anything worthwhile these past few days. You haven’t even prayed in two days and the Devil keeps dishing out large servings of guilt—that’s about the only thing he’s good at.

As the song plays, the Holy Spirit says, “You need to listen to that line again. You are stronger than you think because Christ is your strength.” And you’re like, you know what? I’m just going to listen to this over and over again! I’m loved! I have a helper! I can do all things through Christ! Soon the Holy Spirit is taking you through scriptures that establishes this reality.

Now wait. This is where it gets better, because the Word can do so much more. I believe you agree with the scripture that says God is the only wise God. And He tells you to play the Bible on repeat.
I love reading but there are just few books I read over and over again. A lot of times, I am done with a book after reading it once or twice. I may go back for reference purpose if it’s a great book and if it’s an absolutely phenomenal book, I read about three times and that’s it! There are lots of books in the world I need to read and I need to move fast because… 😂😂

Not so with the Word. We read daily. It’s God’s prescription for a satisfying life (strictly based on God’s standards). Everything you need is in God’s word but you can’t even begin to understand or appreciate God’s plan for your life or life as God intends for you until you begin to read your Bible everyday.

I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food. Job 23:12

The Word of God is active, it illuminates, it gives tremendous wisdom, heals, delivers, produces miracles, builds godly character in us and produces faith. But my favorite reason for always taking the Word is my understanding that it is God-breathed. Wow!

You have a fellowship with and share something so intimate with God every time you read your Bible. Why? Because the Word of God is God Himself. The fact that you’re opening yourself up to the very life, essence and person of God should make you want to take up your Bible everyday. Does God excite you that much? Because He should. You have a relationship with Him already. Fire that friendship to blazing hot intimacy by knowing Him through His Word.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

Making time to be in God’s word opens you up to many supernatural experiences starting from your room. You’re exposed to the tremendous power in God’s word. Your relationship with God becomes more tangible and alive, almost feels like God drawing you deeper and deeper into Himself everyday and saying to you, “Come with me, I need to show you this.”

When he sits on the throne as king, he must copy for himself this body of instruction on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. He must always keep that copy with him and read it daily as long as he lives. That way he will learn to fear the Lord his God by obeying all the terms of these instructions and decrees. This regular reading will prevent him from becoming proud and acting as if he is above his fellow citizens. It will also prevent him from turning away from these commands in the smallest way. And it will ensure that he and his descendants will reign for many generations in Israel. Deuteronomy‬ ‭17:18-20‬

I will finish what a believer’s complete daily playlist should look like in part two. Watch out for it.

Glory to God. As we look into the Word, we know Him more and we are transformed into the same image from glory to glory.
