There are times you can get all lovey-dovey with God in worship and communing, but there are times God demands that you sit right up, receive instruction and run with it. God doesn’t play when He has set you in motion for His purpose and that’s why you cannot afford to trivialize your assignment. There’s no room for pettiness.

A close look at the life of Saul revealed how much he didn’t quite understand the magnitude and grandness of what God has called Him to— to lead His people. The hand of the Lord had come on him right from the time he first met Samuel, and was told what his destiny was. He prophesied, a manifestation of God’s Spirit reserved only for the prophets at that time. The prophets who saw him do that were amazed. God was going to use him for some heavy-weight stuff. 1 Samuel 10:9-12.

Fast forward to the time he was going to be crowned king. Everyone was gathered for the occasion but our big guy disappeared and it took the Lord’s intervention to find him hidden behind the baggage! At this point I’m like, “Why is he playing?” He trivialized almost everything, from offering a sacrifice when it wasn’t his call, to sparing when God said  to destroy, then laughing it all off like it’s nothing. His kingdom (anointing) was taken away and given to David, the one who feared God and put his heart down to hear Him. I wasn’t surprised when the people of Isreal told David that they had only seen Saul as a figurehead all along.

In the past, when Saul was our king, you were the one who really led the forces of Israel. And the Lord told you, ‘You will be the shepherd of my people Israel. You will be Israel’s leader.’”
2 Samuel 5:2

See, God doesn’t joke when He’s talking to you about His purpose because you know what? It’s really not about you. In fact, it’s beyond you. It’s all about fitting right into God’s big plan with the deepest sense of humility. And do I need to remind you that many destinies are tied to that singular assignment God has given you and you can’t afford to play? You can’t afford to be careless or indifferent. You definitely can’t afford to go halfway with obedience.

When you submit to God’s plan, you’re helping yourself live a purposeful life but real truth is, that purpose ultimately belongs to God and He calls the shot. He wants you to see the assignment He has committed to you from His own perspective, not yours. He wants you to apply His own wisdom, not human logic. If it is God that has appointed you, it is just wise that you let Him be the one who wins in the story because either way, He still wins but you may not be winning with Him if you choose disobedience.

There are two kinds of people: those who say to God “Thy will be done” and those to whom God says, “All right then, have it your way.” C. S. Lewis

But the Lord ’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken.
Psalms 33:11 NLT

God is looking for men after His own heart. What does it mean to be after God’s heart? It means you’re down only for the things pleasing to God, it means putting God at the forefront of your life and His purpose for you so that you don’t start misbehaving with whatever He has committed into your hands.

“How foolish!” Samuel exclaimed. “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you. Had you kept it, the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom must end, for the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart. The Lord has already appointed him to be the leader of his people, because you have not kept the Lord ’s command.”
1 Samuel 13:13‭-‬14 NLT

If God says to stay, stay. If He says get up and pray right now, don’t turn in your bed and go back to sleep. If He says to give, give wholeheartedly. If He tells you not to take, refuse to take without feeling regret or resentment. When he wants you to intercede for someone who constantly attacks you, stand up and intercede for them like you’re praying for yourself. Let God be able to have His way with you. He builds up the ones who follow him closely.

    1. That’s right, sis. He wasn’t ready to get serious so God had to pass the assignment on to his neighbor…. 😔. Amen to the prayer. ❤️❤️

  3. Hmm. They will be done!.
God’s work can’t be trivialized and He indeed looks out for Obedience and willingness. Looking at lives He used and using in our age, they are men and women who trust Him even when it seem they are incapable and all.

May God help us. Really. 🙏
